Looking for ways to find money for college?

Join presenters Junie Hayashi and Tasha Williams for an informative workshop that will show you how to get the money you need to fund your education! Everyone is welcome to attend—success connection workshops are open to all LCC students, faculty, and staff.

Self-Talk for Success: Get More Done … Feel Better Doing It
Wednesday, February 24, Noon – 1pm, via Zoom

Uncertainty and overwhelm can feel commonplace over the last year. This session will show you how to spot the default self-talk that can drive our pessimism and procrastination. Learn three simple intrapersonal techniques to flip the script so you can get more done and feel better doing it.

Blind Date with a Book Display

Join us for our Blind Date with a Book event!

We selected books from a variety of genres, wrapped them up, and wrote personal ads to get you to check them out. Give our books a chance! They came highly recommended.

For your convenience, we placed our ads online.

Instructions for Online Book Dating

  1. Go to our Blind Date with a Book page
  2. Click on a “Personal Ad #” link to check its availability
    • If your book date is a physical print book, you can submit a request to pick it up by going to the “Get It” section
      • Sign in with your UH Login
      • Click “Request Specific Copy“
      • Fill out the form and click “> Send Request“
      • You will receive an email notification when your book date is ready for pick up!
    • If your book date is an e-Book/audiobook, you can check it out yourself by going to the “View Online” section
      • Sign in with your UH Login
      • Click the database’s link (OverDrive, EBSCOhost, etc)
      • Click “Borrow” or “Read Online“

*Leeward IDs are required to participate in Blind Date with a Book 

OPTIONAL: After you return your book date, Rate Your Date at go.hawaii.edu/62J. Your matchmakers welcome the feedback!

We would like to thank everyone for supporting our Blind Date with a Book activity [New Window]! We had to re-stock the display each week!

There are a few books left if you would like to snag a book date. Thursday, February 27th, will be the last day for this activity. Before you return your book date, please fill out the Rate Your Date slip (inserted inside of the book’s cover) so we can improve on our matchmaking skills!

This February, join us for Blind Date with a Book!

We selected books from a variety of genres and wrote personal ads to get you to check them out. Drop by the library soon to get a book date before they’re all gone!

Instructions

  1. Look through the personal ads without unwrapping them.

  2. Take your book date to the circulation desk to check it out. If your book date is an e-Book, you can check it out yourself by scanning the QR code with your mobile device or type in the book’s url in your browser.
  3. You can now unwrap your book date!
  4. Take your book date home–give it a chance! It came highly recommended.
  5. (Optional) Rate your book date after you return it. We welcome the feedback.
