Juneteenth
On June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the enslaved were now free. We celebrate the anniversary of this day as Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day).
The library staff have selected a few titles on display in the Learning Commons to honor those who fought to end slavery and to support those raising the issues of our nation today.
